Mold Testing

Mold in Florida homes

Buying or living in your Florida home can expose you to damp and moldy environments that may cause a variety of health problems. Some people are very sensitive to molds. Mold can cause nasal congestion, throat and eye irritation, coughing and wheezing or more serious problems.

Those with mold allergies may have more severe reactions. Immune-compromised people or those with chronic lung diseases may get serious infections in their lungs when exposed to mold.

Mold is found everywhere, indoors and out. Mold grows in places with high moisture or humidity. Mold is often found in HVAC ductwork, showers and tubs, under sinks and behind washing machines or hidden inside walls, attics and crawlspaces. Remediation must include correcting the moisture problem.
If the home has moisture problems, high humidity, musty smells or unexplained staining, you may have a mold problem.

Molt testing is done with a visual inspection, a combination of slit impaction canisters using a bio pump for air sampling, mold surface swabs and surface tape. These are sent to a lab for testing. Lab results tell us the type and concentration of the mold and mold spores.
